To all the True Heroes within the 82nd Airborne Division, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, and 101st Airborne Division – I sincerely thank you all for the Honor of a Lifetime!
The past tour of duty in Afghanistan has been so very memorable and I will forever reflect back and think of you all. My family constantly worried I would postpone and perhaps never resign due to the fact I absolutely loved working with all of you. And, in complete honesty the decision to leave behind the career I had built was tough. Whereas many count down the days till departure, I constantly looked forward to each day.
I could not have written a better ending to a 21-year career.
173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, my fellow Vicenza Italy Paratroopers ~ serving with all of you again made my career complete. Vicenza was my first duty assignment in 1987 and to end my career with all of you was simply spectacular.
82nd Airborne Division ~ serving with the greatest Airborne Division in the U.S. Army meant more than my words can express. When I consider the history behind your unit, it was an absolute honor to serve with the “All American!”
101st Airborne Division ~ completing my career with all of you was one of the most memorable experiences imaginable. Again, when I imagine the history behind your unit, “Band of Brothers” takes on a new meaning for me!
Where else could a man serve with the three GREATEST Airborne units of all time; it has been a TRUE HONOR and I SINCERELY thank you all!
Lastly ~ Donnie, Edward, Eric & Scott - it’s been “one hell of a ride” and I’d proudly serve with all of you again!
