Gettin' Started
In May 2008, the
foundation herd was purchased via private treaty from “A Splash of Color
Longhorns (ASOCL).” Since the moment those majestic animals stepped off the
trailer, we have found ourselves dedicated to the Texas Longhorn Breed. We feel
confident in stating there is absolutely nothing more representative of the
Great State of Texas than watching longhorn cattle walk across the pasture
towards the pond. Since the early beginning, we decided to breed “quality” as
compared to “quantity.” At the “B&L Ranch,” we believe in the total package
and breed our cattle for Horn, Color, Milking Ability, Conformation, and
Disposition. Personally we believe that the largest-horned bull means very
little if the family members can’t walk across the pasture comfortably or feed
him from your hand. We regularly feed our cattle range cubes and firmly believe
in a hands-on approach enabling our cattle to become accustomed to touch which
ensures easier care for us.
